Four problems dog parents tell us about

The chew might be the problem

Allergies

The itch you can't trace

You've switched foods twice. Then a beef rawhide or a bag of chicken jerky sets off the scratching and the upset stomach all over again.

Boredom

The restless 4 p.m. hour

Pacing, whining, the couch cushion that didn't make it. A bored dog will find a job, and it's usually one you didn't assign.

Teeth

Breath that walks in first

Dental sticks come with a paragraph of ingredients, often wheat and poultry, and they're gone in a few bites.

Enrichment

The “indestructible” toy

Twenty-five dollars, shredded by Tuesday, and now you're picking stuffing out of the rug.

Dogs are built to chew. Give them something real to chew, made from a protein their body hasn't learned to react to.

Flip the bag over

What's really in a typical chew

Most chews are built for shelf life and price, and it shows on the label. Here's what three of the most common ones actually are.

Best-selling dental chew32 ingredients

Wheat Flour, Glycerin, Wheat Gluten, Gelatin, Water, Powdered Cellulose, Lecithin, Natural Poultry Flavor, Dicalcium Phosphate, Calcium Carbonate, Potassium Chloride, Choline Chloride, Magnesium Amino Acid Chelate, Fruit Juice Color, Minerals (6 more), Vitamins (11 more), Turmeric Color.

The first ingredient is wheat flour. It's flavored with poultry, colored green, and gone in a few bites.

RawhideLeather byproduct
  1. The inner layer of a cow hide, split off at the tannery
  2. Soaked in lime or sodium sulfide to strip the hair
  3. Washed in hydrogen peroxide or bleach to whiten it
  4. Often dyed and flavored, then rolled or pressed into a bone

In 2017 a major brand recalled rawhide chews made with a disinfectant that isn't approved for dog chews in the U.S.

Nylon chew bonesPlastic
Nylona type of plastic
0nutrition for your dog

Shaped like a bone and flavored to smell like bacon, chicken or peanut butter so dogs will chew it. It isn't food: swallowed pieces aren't digested, and the makers tell you to throw it out once it wears down.

Winnie Lou bison chew1 ingredient

Ingredients: Bison.

Responsibly sourced, grass-fed and pasture-raised bison, slow-roasted or freeze-dried in Colorado. Nothing else goes in: no wheat, glycerin, flavoring, color or bleach.

Sources: retailer ingredient listing for a best-selling dental chew (Oct 2026); care instructions from nylon chew bone makers (Oct 2026); United Pet Group voluntary rawhide recall posted by FDA (June 2017); rawhide processing as described in industry patents and manufacturer explainers.

Why bison

Why bison beats beef and chicken

Most chews on the shelf are beef (rawhide, bully sticks) or chicken (jerky, most dental chews). Bison is different in the ways that matter for a sensitive dog.

34%of food-allergic dogs reacted to beef, the #1 trigger
15%reacted to chicken, the #3 trigger
Not listedBison isn't on the list of reported triggers, because most dogs have never eaten it.

Source: Mueller, Olivry & Prélaud, “Critically appraised topic on adverse food reactions of companion animals (2): common food allergen sources in dogs and cats,” BMC Veterinary Research, 2016. Review of 297 dogs.

Novel protein

A protein their body hasn't met

Food reactions build up to proteins a dog eats again and again, and most dogs eat beef and chicken every day. Bison is new to them, and every chew is one ingredient, so there's nothing else on the label to react to.

Leaner

Naturally leaner than beef

Bison carries less fat than most beef, so tendon, trachea and scapula make a lighter everyday chew. Save the rich marrow bones for the long sessions.

Grass-fed

Raised the way bison thrive

Bison don't do well cooped up or fed like cattle. They do best grass-fed and pasture-raised, so that's how ours are raised. We source responsibly, and every chew is slow-roasted or freeze-dried in Colorado.

Real work

A real job to chew on

Every cut chews differently, from a quick tendon to a long-lasting trachea or marrow bone. Steady gnawing keeps your dog's brain busy and scrapes along the teeth, which supports cleaner teeth and fresher breath.

Four cuts, one protein

Every chew is bison

Different cuts give your dog different chew times, from a quick tendon to a long-lasting trachea or marrow bone. Chew time stays new without ever switching proteins, which is exactly what you want for a sensitive dog.

Subscribe to a box with 8 chews and we add a free bag of our treats ($8.99 or more in value) to every box. By default it's a surprise, a different bag each month, like Celebration Cookies, Sweet Potato & Venison Crisps or Turmeric Bison Jerky. Rather have one favorite? Pick it when you build your box, or swap it anytime from your account. None of our treats contain beef or chicken. Why bison instead of beef or chicken?

Beef and chicken are in almost every chew and treat, and they're two of the most common food triggers for dogs: beef was #1 and chicken #3 in a 2016 review of 297 food-allergic dogs. Bison is a novel protein, so most dogs have never eaten it. It's also naturally leaner than beef, and ours is grass-fed and pasture-raised.

Why does bison cost more than a beef chew?

There are far fewer bison than cattle. Bison don't do well cooped up or fed like cattle. They do best grass-fed and pasture-raised, so that's how ours are raised. That's also why so few chew brands use it. Subscribing brings your price down to 15% off from your third box.Subscribing takes 20% off your first box and 15% off every box after.

How long does one chew last?

It depends on your dog and the chew. Dogs don't eat a marrow bone. They scrape the meat off the outside and lick the marrow out of the center, usually over a few sessions. The trachea lasts the next longest. A tendon is about 5–20 minutes each (3 per bag), and small dogs often make one last much longer. One customer with two dogs said a box per dog lasted them more than two weeks. Pick every 4 weeks for power chewers or multi-dog homes, and every 6 or 8 for lighter chewers.

Which size should I get?

Small for puppies and small breeds, Medium for most family dogs, Large for big breeds. When in doubt, size up. A chew that's too big is safer than one that's too small. You can set a different size on any chew in your box.

Are they safe? Will they splinter?

Our marrow bones are slow-roasted at a low temperature with moisture to help prevent splintering, but they're firm. They're best for moderate chewers. If your dog cracks everything, start with scapula, trachea and tendon, which are gentler on teeth. Always supervise chew time, end sessions after about 30 minutes, and take the chew away once it's small enough to swallow.

My dog reacts to beef or chicken. Is bison safe?

Bison is a common choice for dogs who react to beef or chicken, and every chew is one ingredient, so there's nothing else in it. If your dog has a diagnosed food allergy, check with your vet before adding a new protein.

Will the marrow upset a sensitive stomach?

Marrow is rich. Start with short sessions for the first few days. If your dog has a delicate stomach, tendon and trachea are leaner options to begin with.

Is it messy?

Marrow can be. Put a towel or blanket down, or make the crate the chew spot. Refrigerate a bone with exposed marrow between sessions and use it within a few days.

Do they smell?

A little, like roasted meat. Most of it comes from the marrow, so a marrow bone smells strongest once your dog reaches the middle. Keep opened chews in a sealed bag or container.

How fast does it ship?

Orders ship from Colorado within 1–2 business days and usually arrive about 3 days later. Subscription boxes are scheduled, so they leave before you run out. Subscription boxes ship free at $50+ and one-time orders at $75+. Under that, shipping is $6.00.

Can I change what's in my box?

Yes. Swap chews, change sizes, add more, or change how often it ships, anytime before your next box goes out.

Where do the chews come from?

Responsibly sourced, grass-fed and pasture-raised bison, made in Colorado. Nothing is added: no salt, sugar, smoke, rubs or preservatives.

100% bison. One ingredient. Real chew time.
