Winnie Lou was born in a solar-powered food truck and raised in Boulder, CO. Built on the belief that dogs deserve food made with the same care we put into our own.  Today, we manufacture every product in our own Boulder, CO kitchen . No fillers. No mystery meat. All of our foods are formulated with board certified Veterinarian Nutritionists.  All of our recipes are formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by AAFCO to meet the nutrient profiles for All Life Stages.  While it’s true that many vets disagree on a lot of trends in pet food, there’s one thing they all seem to agree on: freshly made, nutritionally balanced food is one of the best things you can feed your dog.

Because nature knows best — and we don’t mess with that. Most pet food is blasted with high heat, which zaps the nutrients right out. That’s why so many brands add synthetic stuff back in. Not us. At Winnie Lou, we gently air-dry our recipes at low temps to keep nutrients intact and flavors delicious. *We do use a safety kill-step (because risk isn’t fun), but it’s still low enough temp to protect the natural goodness in every ingredient. The result? Real, bioavailable nutrients your pup can actually absorb — no synthetic fillers, no funny business.

Our rule is simple: if we wouldn’t feed it to the human members of our family, we’re definitely not feeding it to our pups. From farms we trust and places we can point to on a map. Most of our ingredients come from generational farms right here in the U.S. — because supporting local matters. All of our produce is U.S.-grown, and proteins like bison, elk, venison, turkey, and wild-caught whitefish are American-sourced too. Our lamb comes from the U.S. and New Zealand — two places that know their way around high-quality, responsibly raised animals. We’re big believers in sustainability and partner only with farmers and fisheries who treat the land (and their animals) with respect. Because doing right by the planet is just as important as doing right by your pup.

Some are — because every pup's needs are different. Our Whitefish & Turkey recipe is completely grain-free, perfect for pups who do better without grains. Our other two recipes do include oats — a gentle, wholesome grain that's easy on sensitive tummies. Bottom line: whether your dog’s a grain-free guru or a fiber enthusiast, we’ve got a recipe that'll get tails wagging.

Think pantry, not fridge. Our air-dried meals are happiest when stored in a cool, dry spot — and even happier when the bag’s closed after each meal. Keep it sealed and you’re good to go for up to XX months. (Though if your pup’s anything like ours, it’ll be gone way before then.)

Slow and steady wins the tummy game.  Dogs can have sensitive stomachs, so we always recommend easing into Winnie Lou over 7–10 days — even if your pup usually has a cast-iron gut.

Your first shipment will come with step-by-step instructions (no guesswork required), but here’s the gist: Start by mixing a little Winnie Lou into your pup’s current food, then gradually increase the amount each day until you're all the way in.

And yes, you’ll want to keep an eye on their backyard business. A little loose stool during the transition? Totally normal. If it happens, just pause at the current ratio until things firm back up, then keep going at your pup’s pace.

That’s why we keep things simple: our recipes rely on real animal protein from muscle and organ meats to give your pup the nutrients they need — no peas, lentils, or legume fillers in sight. Because when it comes to clean, balanced nutrition, we let the meat do the heavy lifting.

Technically yes — and intentionally so.
We steer clear of the usual suspects like beef, chicken, chicken fat, fillers, and other allergy-prone ingredients. Our recipes are made with novel proteins and clean, limited ingredients to keep things simple and gentle on sensitive tummies. That said, every pup is a little different. If your dog has a known allergy, we always recommend giving our ingredient lists a quick look — just to be sure it’s a perfect match.
